ToursThere are a range of structured half-day, one day and two day tours on the Vicmoto Motorcycle Tours website at www.vicmoto.com.au Each tour is described on the website and also shows links to rest stops and other activities where applicable. The half day tours can commence at any time of the day that is suitable for customers, this is to allow the tour to suit customer’s daily schedules. Descriptions of tours and any other associated information is continually being amended and uploaded to the website to assist in the selection of a tour. “A Different Way Around”The company slogan was inspired by the round the world journey undertaken by actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman on two BMW R1200GS motorcycles in 2004. They travelled east continually from London, England across West and East Europe into Russia, then across to Alaska, Canada and down into America ending in New York. Their subsequent book and television series ‘Long Way Round’ became a worldwide bestseller and documentary hit. Although the tours on offer by Vicmoto Motorcycle Tours tend to be a little shorter than Ewan and Charley’s 30,395 kilometres, the idea of spending each day out in the fresh air and experiencing the freedom of travel on a motorcycle, whilst introducing others to the same enjoyment, is just as appealing to Martin and Steven. We operate differently, travel around a very different and very special continent, and use a different model of BMW hence the slogan, “A Different Way Around”. Motorcycle ClothingVicmoto Motorcycle Tours provide fully fitted motorcycle riders equipment and clothing for every passenger and the wearing of this equipment is a mandatory requirement in all conditions. Part of the tour booking process requires that some accurate physical measurements are submitted prior to tours, details of the sizes required are on company brochures and also on the company website at www.vicmoto.com.au The clothing has removable quilted liners so that customers are comfortable and warm in cooler months, whereas the liners can be removed in warmer periods to prevent customers overheating whilst remaining fully protected. The jacket and trousers are windproof, waterproof, stylish, comfortable to wear, and have pockets for small personal effects. The jacket and trousers are easily worn over the top of light casual street clothing; this allows customers to remove the motorcycle clothing during longer breaks such as lunch, put on their own footwear and jacket and wander freely to dine and relax. The new model Nolan N102 ‘flip-face’ helmets are light, comfortable, easy to wear all day and allow customers to lift the chinguard and visor up and away from the face during brief stops. This feature allows drinking and conversation without having to remove the helmet completely. The helmets also feature a unique additional half-visor which is tinted and acts like a pair of sunglasses; this can be raised and lowered as required whilst still having the protection of the complete clear standard visor underneath. The helmets also allow customers to wear prescription glasses or their own sunglasses if they so prefer. Customers are provided with motorcycle boots plus motorcycle gloves that are warm and allow easy movement whilst providing protection against the elements. CommunicationsThe motorcycles are each fitted with a communications system that integrates a number of features such as rider to passenger communication, motorcycle to motorcycle communication, mobile telephone link, AM/FM radio, digital music and on board satellite navigation system voice commands. Customers can converse with their rider at all times and also with their travelling partner on the other motorcycle via the UHF radio link fitted to both motorcycles. If they wish customers may have their own IPod (or similar) plugged into the communications system to listen to as they travel or they can elect to listen to music installed on the motorcycle riders IPod. There are headphones and a boom mounted microphone built in to every helmet and an external lead allows easy connection to the motorcycle communications system. The communications systems are voice activated and therefore are only switched on during speech, this eliminates any wind noise or interference and conversations are easily conducted at normal voice levels. Other features such as music are automatically faded out when speech occurs and faded back in again when speech ceases. Video & PhotographyAn additional service worth taking advantage of are digital photographs and digital video of customers taken by Martin and Steven at every available opportunity throughout the tour. For a very small additional cost the photographs and video will then be packaged on a personalised DVD and forwarded to customers after the tour by mail. If required, and if possible, this DVD will be delivered in person to customers before they depart Melbourne. A copy of the DVD will be retained indefinitely by Vicmoto Motorcycle Tours and should customers lose or damage their copy of the DVD in the future then they can obtain a replacement copy at the cost price of a blank DVD plus packaging and postage. Privacy is respected and the DVD copy that Vicmoto Motorcycle Tours retains is not distributed to any other third party. |
