Paul Blezard has been riding scooters and motorcycles for over 30 years and writing about them for more than 20. He wrote a 50,000 word dissertation on Planning & Motorcycle Land Use for his MSc in Town Planning in 1981 and went on to pen several guides to trail park provision. For most of the 1980s he combined scribbling articles for the bike press with chaperoning teenage American schoolgirls around Europe on coaches. He’s written features for most of the UK specialist bike press and several foreign magazines and also had motoring articles published in the Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, Sunday Mail, Top Gear Magazine, Autocar and Auto Express, amongst others.

He’s had a go at most forms of motorcycle competition; from the sands of Le Touquet and Libya to the mud of the Land’s End Trial and the smooth tarmac of Le Mans in the Moto Tour de France. Other claims to fame include driving Ecomobiles at the Brno Grand Prix circuit and the Nurburgring and riding one into the BBC TV studios live on Blue Peter with John Leslie in the back. He also once took Paula Yates on the London Taxibike which he helped to create and wrote and presented a ten minute feature on feet first motorcycles for Top Gear. He’s also written and presented several motorcycle videos and gets a perverse pleasure from riding litre-plus monster trailies on the dirt. He’s also ridden a 2-Trac in Morocco, an R1 in Laos, a ZZR1200 in Thailand and a Pulsar in Goa.

Blezard has been one of the principle contributors to Trail Bike Magazine since it was launched in 1995 and to Twist & Go scooter magazine since it was launched in the summer of 2000 and also contributes to the trade press.

He recently edited Nick Sanders’ account of his 19 day, record-breaking ride around the world ‘Journey Beyond Reason’ on an R1.

Paul currently owns three big scooters, a KTM450 and a BMW GS1150. His most extravagant indulgence to date was the purchase of an original 1980 Quasar in 2005 which is ridden rather than polished. His only 4-wheeler is a very battered Peugeot Boxer van.
